Professional Bio
A true servant leader dedicating her life to encouraging people to put the needs of others over their own. Leading the nation’s defense as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, Shelly served her country for 16-years while attaining the rank of Captain.
Among other military assignments, she served as a Briefing Officer, Company Commander, Division Operations Officer and S2 across different Army units. Tactically, she led intelligence briefings during highly sensitive overseas missions requiring clandestine, underground planning. Strategically, she designed and orchestrated security programs for the protection and care of nearly 4,000 Soldiers. Her military awards include the Shield of Sparta and the St. Joan D’Arc.
Civilian Resume
As a civilian, Shelly brought her love for mass communication to the broadcast television and fitness industries. At Media General Inc., she was a Brand Manager and Director of Marketing, developing and implementing research-based strategic plans while spearheading the transition from analog to digital broadcasting. At Pivotal Fitness, she served as a General Manager and Director of Personal Training, where she inspired the health of thousands, growing the Charleston, SC, location to more than double production and overall gross revenue in 14 months’ time.
Mission: Ambition, LLC
Shelly is a 3rd generation Detroit business owner who grew up swinging a hammer and now creates (and provides access to) dynamic mental wellness content through Mission: Ambition, LLC. In their private recording studio, located on Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Shelly and her team provide people with exciting ways to grow as business professionals. Here, the “Others Over Self” philosophy was born: the belief that all people should be putting the needs of others over their own. The Others Over Self Society brings together gamechangers who are dedicated to keeping their spark alive, in order to better serve others.
Public Speaking
A beloved speaker with endless stories, she’s been featured in the Detroit Free Press, Crain’s Detroit Business, WDIV-TV, CBS 62, WWJ-TV, Michigan Matters, MI News 26, and more. Shelly serves as the Chaplain for the Selfridge Air National Guard Base Community Council and is a member of the Macomb Chamber of Commerce Aerospace and Defense Committee, Women in Defense and Officer’s Christian Fellowship.

Community Involvement
Shelly is a Distinguished Military Graduate from Western Michigan University where she studied journalism and served as the Captain of the Bronco Rifle Team. She is a theological scholar, pursuing Chaplaincy and a Master’s of Divinity at Moody Theological Seminary. Shelly is happily married to a Godly man and they have two all-star sons.
